7 year old boy pulled over by Police while driving Mom’s Car

A barefoot seven-year-old boy wearing pyjamas hit speeds of 50mph while driving his mother’s Pontiac Sunfire for 20 miles before Michigan police eventually forced him to stop.
Caseville Police Chief Jamie Learman said the boy had been reported driving the car by witnesses who lost sight of him until he showed up in Caseville.
“I was in a meeting and when I got out, I saw him go by,” Learman said. “He looked very young.”
Learman gave chase with lights and the siren activated as the boy drove 50 mph, losing control of the car a few times and leaving the roadway, Learman got in front of the Sunfire and a Huron County sheriff’s deputy pulled behind the car. The boy finally pulled over.
When the police approached the car they could see the youngster was crying and attempting to get the car door unlocked.
“He was crying and just kept saying he wanted to go to his dad’s,” he could barely see over the steering wheel and had difficulty reaching the gas pedal and brakes.”He is lucky he wasn’t hurt, he was lucky he didn’t hurt anyone else.” said Learman.
Huron County Prosecutor Timothy Rutkowski filed a juvenile charge of unlawful use of an automobile against a 7-year-old
Rutkowski said “I filed the petition to get the young person into our family court system with the idea we would try to find out why the young man did what he allegedly did, adding that the boy’s reasoning is still not clear to investigators. He said the investigation did not show anything startling in the boy’s home life that could explain why he took the car keys as his mother slept and drove off.
