Cows in China Producing Human Breast Milk

Scientists in China have genetically engineered 300 dairy cows to produce milk that contains nutrients found in human breast milk
Researchers at the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology of the China Agricultural University introduced human genetic coding into the DNA of Holstein dairy cow embryos. They then transferred the embryos into cow surrogates.
Writing in the scientific peer-reviewed journal Public Library of Science One, the researchers said they were able to create cows that produced milk containing a human protein called lysozyme,
Lysozyme is an antimicrobial protein naturally found in large quantities in human breast milk. It helps to protect infants from bacterial infections during their early days of life.
They created cows that produce another protein from human milk called lactoferrin, which helps to boost the numbers of immune cells in babies. A third human milk protein called alpha-lactalbumin was also produced by the cows
“The genetically modified cow milk is 80 percent the same as human breast milk,” lead researcher Dr. Li Ning, professor at University, told Reuters.
The milk is still undergoing safety tests, but with government permission it will be sold to consumers as a more nutritious dairy drink than cow’s milk.

an APPLE or any other fruit/ vegetable would NOT be allowed on the shelves if it were man -made .
Same is true of milk , meat , wheat etc etc etc .
Vegetables contain naturally occuring substances which are BANNED in the manufacturing of MAN-MADE foods and medicines .

Absolutely vile.
Instead of wasting time with animals they should genetically modify human females to produce babies that don’t need milk?

@TonyAlanCooper: You are far too quick to accept things you know nothing about. A vague article and you are already on the bandwagon. You should get some common sense.
As for cows milk being biologically ill-suited for humans..where the hell did you get that garbage…thousands of years and billions of people are evidence you are simply wrong.
